Another challenging perspective from Graham Le Sar…
“As a result of coaching with Graham I have become much more of a thinker than a doer. I’ve grown comfortable with the patience game. I live consciously, aware of why I do things. I walk tall and am ok with who I am and what I have achieved.” – Martin Wimble – Project Engineer
“Where there is no vision, the people will perish.” – Proverbs 29:18
I was reading an article about Liam Neeson the other day. You know the “Taken” Guy who famously said “If you are looking for ransom I can tell you I don’t have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you…”
Anyway, the article went on about all the stuff that had happened to him in his journey from being a common or garden variety truck driver to becoming the ultimate action movie hero. How his wife, the love of his life had suffered a shocking skiing accident and had gone into a hopeless coma, and how he eventually had to make the devastating decision to switch off the machines and let her pass on.
Whatever your private belief about life, death and the hereafter, or the morality of his decision the grief that he suffered must have been overwhelming.
The article ended with the assertion that you can always rise from the ashes so long as you pursue your passion.
My point is this. Many, many South African from all walks of life regardless of colour, occupation, position or religious belief are struggling to survive and have lost their passion in the process.
Right now we seem to live in a frustrating spaghetti bowl of stuff on the political, economic and social front; mostly issues that seem irreconcilable but which must be reconciled if we are to move forward as a nation.
Many of us are struggling with issues of hopelessness, helplessness and powerlessness right now. But the last thing that we can afford is to give up hope. Hope has to do with our vision of the future. The vision being presented by our Leaders seems unrealistic at best.
One thing is certain, the future will inevitably happen. If you have no vision for your own future then you will have to settle for the one that is created by everybody else…
Your future is up to you…
How about you?
What do you want your future to look like…?
